Last Friday, we had some errands to run and I told Cason that if he was good we would go to Taco Bueno and then go eat and play at the park. He was good so I stayed true to my word.

The park that we usually go to is great. It's brand new and there is a ton of stuff for the kids to play on. There is also a toddler section. On this particular day. when we first drove in, I saw that it looked a bit busy. At first I thought it must be an elementary school having an end of the year party. Then I saw a huge banner that read, "Senior Citizen Community Outreach Day." That place was packed with seniors. There was no leaving because a) I had already told Cason that's what we were doing and b) I couldn't get out of the parking lot because of the ten (ten!) charter buses, plus nursing home vans, etc.

So we got out, joined the senior citizens, ate our lunch and played. They had a band playing some old timey music. Cason said, "They're playin' Mater's song!" All in all it was a great trip and it didn't matter at all that there were 200+ senior citizens there. One lady even told me she would take the kids home with her. I offered to load them up in her car for her.

On Sunday, two people were shot at the park. I'm sorry to be so abrupt about it, but I didn't know else to broach the subject. It kind of freaked me out a little. I drove by on the way to the store and saw the police, news crews and police tape. Now, the shooting wasn't random. BUT STILL! I suppose I really do live in the ghetto.

Here are some pictures from our possible last trip to the park:

Oh, Emily - my ghetto sister - I feel your pain!

Just over a month ago, I watched FROM MY FRONT WINDOW!!!! the end of a police chase! Our neighbor across the street decided to flee from police, and head straight home. So, I watched as police surrounded and guns were drawn and our neighbor was on his knees surrendering! Yay - fun times! Oh, and Georgia was watching too...asking if our neighbor was a bad guy!

I need to move!

Yes, we had our car window busted out while we were on a vacation. And later, the neighbors felt the need to call the cops on our completely innocent pinata birthday party!

I also admire that Kendall sports a bow, even at the park. I can tell you and Liz that if I have a girl, she'll be luck to have a bow on at church!

Hmmm. Maybe you should stick to the zoo....
I'm pretty sure all they have are dart guns in there.

Really? I hadn't heard of a shooting in town. Well, I guess the zoo is safe. I mean, it's in the ghetto but at least you have lions to get the bad guys. :)
