Car Screamers

Does anyone have one of these, whether it be a child or a spouse?  Cason, for all of his...uh...I'll say "nuances", has always been pretty good in the car, save the occasional fit.  He goes pretty seamlessly from car to stroller and back.  Then there's my daughter.  I wouldn't say she's laid back, but she's definitely not, er, hmmm...as "intense" as her brother.  But for some reason she HATES riding in the car, and has from day two, when she had her first car ride.  Last night, I was coming home from the in-laws.  They live 20 minutes away and Kendall screamed from the minute I put her in the car until we got home and I put her in bed.  The entire way home.  The. Entire.  Way.  Home.  She seems to do better if she can see someone, like her brother.  But at night, forget about it.  I usually end up sitting back there with her.  The problem is when I am by myself.  I find it difficult to drive and sit in the backseat.  Any suggestions for what to do with a car screamer?  It will make our two trips to Houston and St. Louis (don't hate on my awesome vacations) interesting.

And I'm sorry but what do I have to do to get a big, clear, plastic cup at Panera?  I know they have them, I've seen them.  I've seen people drinking out of them.  I've asked for them and they still give me those stinkin' little styrofoam cups.  I want a big, plastic cup for my iced tea and I'm not afraid to say it!!  If you know how, if there's some code that I'm missing out on, please do tell.

I feel your pain. Allisyn used to be a car screamer. I remember trips from Tucon to Phoenix to the airport with her screaming in the Michael trying to soothe her in the backseat, and me crying and speeding. Me sitting back there just made it worse.

I know this is probably not what you want to hear, but it wasn't until we turned her around that Alli did bette.,Even then we still had nightmare trips.

I hope Kendall kicks it soon.

I'm writing on my iPhone so who knows what typos will occur. For long trips, GET A DVD PLAYER! I know you have at least one Baby Einstien (since I gave it to you!) In trips between Keller & Katy, we've found it very helpful! You put on the head restraint - it worked for Luke last trip (3 weeks ago). You can get them for less than $100 now & most come with a plug in charger for the car. Definitely cheaper than the therapy you'll need after the first hour of continuous screaming! If you can find a good deal, get one for each kid and tell Cason it I'd ONLY for road trips.

I have no advice... only sympathy. I wish I could help you, but we had two car screamers. Once on a trip to MN, Chloe screamed non-stop from Des Moines to my parents house - that's THREE HOURS! For some reason Kevin and I argued a lot during that leg of the trip...I wonder why?

1. barking donkey - biter bisquit sounds like a sure way to have to get the inside of ones car detailed. If you could elaborate on that method we'd appreciate it.
2. can you drive at night? Luke's the same way. It's awful. But when we go to Houston, we leave around 7 and he usually sleeps most of the time. (Unless we hit a slow spot or stop)
3. The DVD player is a good one. Luke will NOT watch tv at home. But in a moment of desparation it entertained him in the car. But he's a bit older than K.
Hope that helps!

Jaylen's birthmark is on the back of her neck right at her hair line. It is flat and dark brown. It's fairly big like maybe 2 inches long and as wide as your thumb. He's not worried about it but wants us to have someone look at it to check it out. I think I posted a picture of it sometime a couple months ago.

My baby screamed every single time we put her in the carseat until she was about 8 months old, no matter who was sitting with her or what toys she had. After hundreds of miles on the road last Christmas she snapped out of it a little. Then we moved her to a rear-facing "big kid" carseat around 8 or 9 months even though she hadn't outgrown the infant carrier and now she is a good passenger. Until her big sis reaches across and takes away her toy, of course.
